It has been close to 7 months since I have been living in Australia. That seems wild. November finally brought with it some Spring to the Australian weather. In the first week, we went to Kokoda Track Memorial Walk (1000 steps) for a short trek. This place is wonderful. But it’s a hard trek (at least I felt so). It takes about an hour to reach the top and the pathway is steep and narrow. But you are walking in between lush trees and it feels amazing!
In the coming week, we celebrated our first Diwali in a foreign land. A strange feeling. Although I did not miss the atom bombs and Lakshmi patakis back in Bangalore. I am terrified of loud crackers. There were two Diwali events organised by the Indian community here. One was at Federation square and the other was in Marvel stadium. The Federation Square event had a lot of cultural performances and Indian food stalls. In the end, we also got to see fireworks. It was a surreal moment to see fireworks for Diwali, especially in a foreign land. Not going to lie, it did make me emotional and miss home.
Our friends joined us for the other event at Marvel Stadium. It was nice to finally socialise. We ate some nice Indian street food. Saw a few cultural performances and roamed about in the different stalls. We finally ended the day by going for a nice dinner at the Villas restaurant. The food was good. But it was a little expensive for what we got.
Another noteworthy event for this month is that I finished reading Anna Karenina!! It was a long time coming. I think I started reading this book in May of this year. Lovely book. I can’t wait to read more of Tolstoy’s work.
Oh, how can I forget? I finally got a chance to watch The Eras movie in the theatre. I sadly did not get tickets for the actual concert here in Melbourne, I didn’t want to miss out on watching the movie as well. That woman is brilliant! I don’t have enough adjectives to describe her amazing work and persona.
On the last weekend of November, we went to the Supercross WSX event at Marvel Stadium. We did not understand a single rule or know about the contestants. But, we thoroughly enjoyed the event. The motorcycle stunts were amazing to watch!
That’s about it. Sharing a few snapshots
