Books I’ve read so far in 2023

Hello there! We are almost 6 months into 2023 and I thought I’ll do a quick round-up on what I’ve been reading (Not a lot of books though).

  1. The Stationery Shop of Tehran by Marjan Kamali

This book came recommended by a travel content creator who had recently visited Iran. I truly loved this book! It’s heartbreaking and enchanting at the same time. I have cried my eyes out, especially in the last few pages. It is not just an ordinary romantic book. There is depth, there is a story to be told. The author has not tried to make this story fit in a box which is a nice change to read.

If you like reading contemporary love story which explores love, heartbreak and a bit of everything then this book is for you.

2. The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz

A brilliant adaptation of Sherlock Homes chronicles by Anthony Horowitz— a very gripping historical thriller. Sherlock Homes books don’t need an introduction. If you enjoy thrillers, mysteries and that sort of genre then this book is for you. This is the second book I’ve read of Horowitz’s and can’t recommend him enough. He has a unique way of storytelling with murder mystery books which keeps you on the hook.

3. Book Lovers by Emily Henry

This is an easy breezy read. The classic contemporary romance where opposites attract. Read this when you don’t feel like reading something that’s too heavy.

There is one other book I started reading at the beginning of the year – Tomorrow, and tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. God. This is a book I somehow could not continue reading. I don’t want to mention why I couldn’t read this (in case someone who is reading this post would be interested in that sort of book). This book was highly talked about and had a lot of hype. If any of you hypothetical readers of my post want to pick up this book I’ve linked it above.

Yup, I have only read 3 books in the last 4 months. Not a great start but I do have some interesting books lined up in my TBR pile and a fascinating book which I am currently reading. More on that in the next post. Until then…

Oh, and if someone is reading this post, please drop your book suggestions in the comment below. I mostly read fiction – Thrillers, detective books, classics and romcoms.
