Skydiving

My birthday was just around the corner and my husband thought that the best gift would be to give me an experience. I am not an adventurous person. Jumping off of planes or mountain cliffs has never been my thing. So, it took me a while to actually agree to go skydiving. Read a few articles and saw this video of Will Smith to motivate me to do this ridiculously scary activity.

Jumping from a height of 14,000 feet is a surreal experience. My heart dropped when my guide opened the airplane in the middle of nowhere. It felt like the plane was struggling to stay upright in the sky. Thankfully he did not ask me to jump. Maybe he realized how scared I was and thought it was best to just roll off the plane with me. The 1-minute free fall that came after this jump was when I could feel my heart in the back of my throat. It was the scariest thing ever. The rush of cold wind that felt like it could knock me out any second and the feeling of falling into nothingness.

The best part of skydiving came after the parachute was opened. This is when I could catch my breath for a second and marvel at the nature around me. The location I picked for my skydiving gave me the best view of water and land. Taking in the serene blue waters and the yachts was magical. I can only imagine and wish to see what the ocean holds underneath. I got a full 4 or 5 minutes of gliding after the parachute was open and I enjoyed every second of it! Before I knew it, we were descending and I was asked to keep my feet up so we could land. That’s it, my feet touched the ground and whatever it was that scared me about skydiving was over within minutes.
